From Reading 1.0 to 7.0 in Hip Wo Style
The exhibition in the library is still on and if you are interested to know how to improve your reading skills and do well in the Liberal Studies examination, it is something you should not miss. In Hip Wo, we make good use of our Current Affairs Article Reading Scheme to expand students’ knowledge base and comprehension skills. This scheme is related to ‘reading to learn’ and ‘student autonomy in learning’ and is implemented in social studies in junior forms and liberal studies in senior forms, supported by the Chinese and English subject, in response to students’ lack of general knowledge and habit of browsing information instead of reading. Not only does the curriculum require students to read current affairs articles (mostly editorials) seriously, it is also assisted by guided-reading lessons from teachers. This curriculum novelty has gone through a lot of changes and can be exemplified in the exhibition.
