Constructing a harmonious campus – Interflow in Singapore

Constructing a harmonious campus – Interflow in Singapore

On 30/10, all staff of our school travelled to Singapore for a field trip, aiming to gain a better understanding on the effectiveness of the multicultural inclusive policy in Singapore, which echoes with our major concern of‘constructing a harmonious and inclusive campus’. (note: ‘constructing a harmonious and inclusive campus’ is one of the major concerns of the 4th phase of the Hip Wo school development plan). The 4-day field trip included visits to Chung Cheng High School and Singapore Chinese Girls’ School. Apart from school education, we also visited the communities and experienced the cultural features of ‘harmony in diversity’ in Singapore, in terms of urban planning, architecture, religion and cuisine. Since its foundation in 1965, the Singaporean government has done much in promoting its multicultural policy emphasizing the concept of Singapore as a nation and at the same time respecting the traditions and customs of different ethnicities. Singapore’s realization of the ideal of‘harmony in diversity’ is viewed as an exemplary role model of racial harmony worldwide.
