‘Quality Education’ speech by the Principal initiated the New School Year
The new academic year began on 1/9. Our principal, Mr. Tsui, delivered a speech themed ‘Quality Education’ during the school opening ceremony. Inspired by students’ performance in the summer Putonghua learning camp, Mr. Tsui recounted the real-life experience of Chinese and Japanese students in a summer camp in which students explored the grasslands. The two-day exploration was in fact a comparison of the qualities of children, as well as an indication of the effectiveness of education in both countries. After the summer camp, the performance of Chinese students left doubts and questions and while the Japanese children left energetically and relaxingly, leaving deep reflections to the Chinese… Mr. Tsui concluded, ‘Not only wasstudents’ performance associated with their reputation, but the key is ‘quality’, which is the result of our education and this also decides how far the child can go in the future. This is worth reflecting for both parents and frontline educators.
