Raising the effectiveness of teaching and learning via the coordination of regular and extended curriculum

The curriculum of our school is comprised of three core components—namely the regular curriculum, the extended curriculum and the co-curricular activities. Among these the extended curriculum mainly aims at enriching students’ learning experience and raising the effectiveness of teaching and learning, via different approaches such as counseling, academic support, enhancement and diversity. Targets students are mainly junior secondary students, with the focus on supporting the Chinese and Math for Non-Chinese speaking students, as well as English for new Immigrants from Mainland China. The extended curriculum also provides opportunities for Cantonese immersion for newly-arrived children, which aims at breaking the language barrier and integrating into the mainstream society. The extended curriculum is divided into 3 phases—the first semester (Sep – Dec), the second semester (Feb – June) and the summer semester (July and August). For the first two phases, lessons will be arranged after school (14: 50 – 15: 55) and on Saturday morning (8: 30 – 10: 55). For details please refer to the respective parents’ notices.
