Visit of Dean of International College from Ming Chuan University
On 13th November, Dr. Lau Kwok Wai, the Dean of International College of Ming Chuan University, visited our school and hosted a seminar on further studies in Taiwan.
After several years of promotion, further studies in Taiwan (especially at Ming Chuan University) has become an alternative for our students after graduation. Over the past two years, there were 30 students going to Taiwan for further studies and 11 of them enrolled in Ming Chuan University (Note 1), which accounts for 37% of the total.
MingChuan Universitywas established in 1957. At the beginning, the University was named as “Ming Chuan Girls’ Commercial College”. In 1997, the Taiwan Ministry of Education approved the commercial college to be renamed as Ming Chuan University, which is located in the center of Shihlin District in Taipei City and the International Airport located at Taoyuan County. The University is comprehensive in nature, which consists of 10 colleges, 44 faculties, 28 research institutes and two PHD classes. The most outstanding feature of Ming Chuan University is that the courses provided by International College (found in 2000 and the first university in Taiwan which owns the International College) are solely conducted in English. More than 700 students, who come from different countries and various cultural backgrounds, such as United States, Canada, Britain, France, Japan and Malaysia, enroll in this school. The International College offers courses in six different sectors, such as International Corporation and Trade, News and Mass Media, International Finance, Tourism and Hospitality, Application of Information Technology, as well as International Affairs and Diplomacy. The curriculum is linked with those in the state universities in the United States. (Ming Chuan University is the first Asian university which received the accreditation from the United States). The students from Ming Chuan University have the opportunities to join the exchange programs, travelling to America or Europe. As a result, the students are able to obtain a double degree from Ming Chuan University and the foreign Universities. It is highly recommended for students to study at Ming Chuan University (especially non-Chinese speaking students).
