Lin Jianren embarked on his dream redemption journey

Over the years, our graduates have been able to achieve much success in different fields. We believe that once our students are able to identify their passion they can plan their pathway and achieve what they aspire for. Lin Jiaren, graduate of 2014, deserves a notable mention.

Lin upon the completion of his secondary school went on to study a Higher Diploma in Fashion Design (Knitwear Design) in Hong Kong Design Institute. During the course of his studies, he developed his interest in the area of sustainable dye practice and had an opportunity to be an apprentice of Michel Garcia, a world renowned botanist, chemist, dyer and naturalist in France to have a greater understanding of natural dye history and more sustainable adaptations for current practice. With his skills honed, Lin took part in a competition and won a $250,000 scholarship to further his studies in the United Kingdom. In the award ceremony, he shared that he plans to launch his clothing brand that is based on sustainable dye practice in the foreseeable future. We wish him all the best in achieving his goal!

For further stories of Hip Wo alumni, the school launched the HW Human Library – a video-based web page for alumni who have a story to tell about their contributions to society.
