A Symposium on HW’s STEM
Technology is inseparable in almost every aspect of our daily life and as the workplace changes, STEM knowledge and skills grow in importance for a wide spectrum of workers. There is no doubt that the demand for skilled workers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) is closely linked to global competitiveness and our students are not immune from such changes. To succeed in this new information-based and highly technological society, our students need to develop their capabilities in STEM to levels much beyond what was considered acceptable in the past.
Therefore on 18th March, a symposium entitled “HW’s STEM” was held to spell out school’s blueprint on STEM development and the curriculum expectations on all subject leaders and STEM teachers. The symposium allowed the participants to articulate and comprehend a holistic STEM picture for the school which was drawn from series of presentations, discussions and consolidation of students’ feedback on the current STEM provisions.
