COD Activity 1; COD-Henna Fest kicked off. What is COD?
An initial reading of the title would make you think of fish species that is constantly on your dinner plate regardless of where you go for your dining experience. In fact, the word “COD” means more than that in our context. COD refers to an acronym Celebrate Our Differences which is our theme for this year’s Multicultural Festival. Like cod, where this fish species can swim freely in our water without any borders despite their differences within their family, likewise, our theme is to infuse our students with the value that it is normal to have differences and we should not aim for conformity but rather how we can celebrate the differences and learn to respect, accept and appreciate each other.
In this regard, on 23rd October, our students of different ethnic backgrounds designed henna patterns that resonate their cultural connotation and address the notion of racial diversity. This activity allowed our students of different ethnic groups to get together and share their differences perspectives in an unconventional way.
Stay tuned, more COD activities are on its way!
