A winning bid: $19,888 price tag for #226 Victoria New Year Stall
Although the prime spot at Hong Kong’s largest Lunar New Year market received a surprisingly cold reception at auction this year, our students from the Commerce Club attended the auction and successfully bid for stall number 226 for an auspicious price at $19,888 only. Both numbers 226 and 19,888 are considered lucky as they sound like fortune in Cantonese.
Over the years, student body of the Commerce Club has included this as an integral part of an entrepreneurial experience for its members. The next step is for the students to roll out their business plan and make their shareholders happy or “faat” after the Chinese New Year.
