3…2….1…. Fire! STEM Activity?
Have you ever thought about what it would be like to fire a cannon? How far do you think a cannonball can go when you shoot it out of a cannon? Can you make a cannonball go a certain distance? Don’t worry, we are referring it in a classroom context.
Science Club organized a DIY air cannon activity during the lunch hours on 6th March. This activity required our students working in pairs to work around the concept of force and energy while also digging into some engineering and designing principles to blow off the candles in the shortest time. So how was STEM exemplified?
S=principles of science (force/energy),
TE=technology and engineering (building the air cannon), and
M=mathematics (measurement and data).
The atmosphere was jolly and exciting! Stay tuned for similar activities which are in the pipeline…….
