Quashing the Geography stereotype: Crosswords to learn GEO
During the lunch hour on 17th April, if you had a chance to pop into Harmony Lounge, you would have first thought it was an English activity on crossword but as you walk further inside, you would immediately notice that you needed to activate your Geography Schema. You have to ask yourself more WHYs than recalling your textbooks memories.
Yes, it was our series of lunch activities and it was Geography Club’s turn to arrange the activity. Students simply needed to work in pairs and solve the crosswords by choosing a level of difficulty that best fit them. The topic ranged from Coastal Landscapes and Processes to Weather & Climate. The aim of the activity was to provoke our students’ critical thinking and problem solving skills. We felt that it is important to know where things are and how our world works.
So if you think Geography is all about memorizing places names, then you should come and join our Geography Club to know more.
